Canada Grocery Code office elects board of directors

Leaders from Vince’s Market, Empire, Loblaw and Costco elected

Office of the Grocery Sector Code of Conduct said the election of the board is "a significant step in the continued implementation and maturation of the code."

Members of the Office of the Grocery Sector Code of Conduct have elected their first permanent board of directors.

The board, elected at the Office’s annual general meeting, includes:

  • Iain McRuvie, Burnbrae Farms
  • Steve Roosdahl, BCfresh Vegetables
  • Pierre Morin, Boulangerie Humanité
  • John Danyluk, Earth's Own Food Company
  • Martin Payant, Unilever Canada
  • Rhonda Mitchell, The Clorox Company of Canada Ltd.
  • Stacey Kravitz, UNFI Canada
  • Giancarlo Trimarchi, Vince's Market
  • John Pritchett, Powell's Supermarket
  • Rob Allsop, Empire Company Limited
  • Jodat Hussain, Loblaw Companies Limited
  • Marc-Andre Bally, Costco Wholesale Canada

Michael Graydon, CEO at Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada (FHCP), will continue in his role as Interim Chair in the short term as the search continues for an independent chair.

“This is a significant step in the continued implementation and maturation of the code,” the Office said in a LinkedIn post. “We look forward to working with this group as they provide governance, oversight, and strategic direction to support the code’s objectives of fairness, predictability, and good faith in the grocery sector.”

The Canada Grocery Code went into effect on January 1.
