Eight organizations from the Food Bank of Quebec’s network have been selected to participate in the project.

Who: Metro

What: The grocer, in collaboration with longtime partner Food Banks of Quebec, has announced the launch of Metro’s Shared Kitchens.

Metro is investing $2 million over four years for the first edition of the project, which will provide funding to organizations working to combat food insecurity.

In June, eight organizations from the food bank’s network were selected to participate, which will enable the construction of kitchens, structural redevelopment or expansion of spaces and the acquisition of professional equipment.

"Our goal was to develop a program that concretely responds to local needs. We are very proud of our collaboration with Food Banks of Quebec in creating a tangible project for their food banks allowing us to create a legacy in the communities where we operate, and bring to life Metro’s purpose to nourish the health and well-being of our communities," says Marie-Claude Bacon, vice president, public affairs and communications at Metro, in a release.
