No Frills opening in Paradise, N.L.

Construction is underway on a new No Frills in the St. John’s metropolitan area. 

This September, the discount supermarket chain will open its second location in the town of Paradise, N.L.

The grocery store will be situated inside a retail plaza at 1641 Topsail Road. Other tenants include Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama, Pet Valu and Starbucks. 

On Loblaw Companies second quarter earnings call Thursday (July 30), CEO Per Bank said the food and pharmacy retailer is continuing to invest in its discount banners. 

“We are confident that consumer preference for discount is a long term shift,” Bank said. “Our momentum on investing in this area and the differentiation of our Maxi and No Frills banners position us very well for continual growth."
