No Frills opens 350th store
No Frills marked a major milestone last week with the opening of its 350th store.
The fast-growing discount banner welcomed shoppers to Aureo’s No Frills in Warman, Sask. on Oct. 8.
No Frills said the supermarket—located at 700 Centennial Boulevard—is the first in Western Canada to feature the chain’s new hybrid timber and steel design, which it debuted in Komoka, Ont. earlier this year.
Offerings include hot chickens in BBQ and Portuguese flavours, halal options, in-store baked cookies, donuts and croissants, multicultural products, organic and natural food options, PC Express pick-up and delivery and Flashfood.
Leading the new store is owner Aureo Perez, whose career with Loblaw began in 2013 as a part-time meat clerk. Perez previously worked for five years as a No Frills store owner in Saskatoon.
“We’re incredibly excited to open this store in Warman and become part of the community,” said Perez in a press release. “I’ve had the opportunity to serve many Warman customers at my Saskatoon store, so bringing No Frills closer to them is especially meaningful. Our team is ready to provide the value, quality and fresh products our customers expect, while building strong relationships with local schools, organizations and families.”
To celebrate the opening, Aureo’s No Frills is donating $1,500 to the Warman Food Bank.
As reported by Canadian Grocer in August, the Warman opening comes as Loblaw Companies looks to bring its discount banner to small, rural communities.
“Smaller communities are an important part of how we think about growing the No Frills network and serving more Canadians,” Jennifer Teixeira, senior vice president, No Frills Operations, said in a press release following the opening of a No Frills in Dutton, Ont. in July.
