Food Basics has unveiled a modern new store in Brampton, Ont.
Located at 400 Queen St. West, the discount store is less than five kilometres from a former Food Basics that closed yesterday. The company says the entire team was moved to the new store.
At 32,000 sq. ft. the Metro-owned store is offers a tailored selection of goods to reflect the diversity of the community and will serve up a selection of locally-sourced items, fresh meat and produce along with the chain's private label products. Shoppers will also be able to earn Moi Rewards.

"We are excited to bring a fresher and newer Food Basics to [the] Brampton community," said John Manax, the company's vice-president of operations in a press release. "Residents who may be first-time shoppers at Food Basics will get to know us as a discount grocer that is a reliable source for fresh, always in-stock, healthy food at great prices."
Metro currently operates 153 Food Basics stores across Ontario and the Brampton store is the second of eight the grocer plans to open in 2026.
