PHOTO GALLERY: Mars Canada unveils holiday window vignettes in Toronto
For almost a century, the holiday window displays at 176 Yonge Street in Toronto signalled the beginning of the season. For the first time in 70 years, they were at risk of going dark.
This year, Mars Canada filled the displays with “The Wonders of Mars,” a free, seven-window storybook experience.
The Wonders of Mars window displays feature a “magical depiction of a day in the life of the Mars elves — the behind-the-scenes creators who help bring moments of holiday happiness to families and pets across Canada,” notes a press release.
The displays were created in collaboration with Ana Fernandes, who led the creation of the Yonge and Queen store’s holiday windows for more than 20 years.
Each vignette shows a different moment in the elves’ day and includes iconic Mars Canada brands like Skittles, Hubba Bubba, Excel and Celebration.

The windows will be on display until Jan. 2. Visitors can scan the QR code within the display to submit their holiday wish lists. For every list submitted, Mars will donate $1 to Food Banks Canada, up to $15,000.
“As a family-owned company with more than 100 years of history, we know how deeply traditions shape joy and connection,” says Ellen Thompson, general manager, Mars Wrigley Canada. “We’re proud to give back to the community by helping continue a holiday tradition that has sparked magic and happiness for families across the city.”
