Former Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones makes cameo appearance in ad launching Unreal Deal

Save-On-Foods is bringing fresh energy and savings to customers with Unreal Deal, its latest promotional program.

The company says the Unreal Deal campaign builds on the legacy of its popular Darrell’s Deals program, named after its former president, Darrell Jones, and features “unbelievable” weekly prices.

“Our customers have made it clear—they want great deals every week, and that’s exactly what the Unreal Deal delivers,” said Gillian York, Pattison Food Group's vice-president of customer loyalty in a release. “It’s more than just a promotion, it’s a celebration of savings, packed with unbelievable weekly prices and a whole lot of fun. With music at the heart of it, this campaign brings fresh energy and it’s unlike anything we’ve done before.”

Accompanying the launch is an high energy ad spot where a Save-On-Foods shopper hits the Unreal Deal button in-store resulting in an immediate transformation of the store complete with neon lights, a catchy song, “The Deal Is On” (a playful riff on Glenn Frey’s 80s hit “The Heat is On”) and synchronized dancing. The ad spot even includes a cameo appearance from Jones, which the company says signifies that while the name of the promotion is changing, Save-On-Foods commitment to weekly deals and delivering values remains strong.
