Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones receives entrepreneur of the year award

Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones has been named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 Pacific.

The award recognizes “visionary entrepreneurs from across the country who are transforming our world through innovation, growth and prosperity,” according to a press release from SAve-On-Foods.

Jones started with the company 45 years ago in Cranbrook, British Columbia, bagging groceries after school. Over the years, he has worked in 23 stores in various parts of the province.

Jones held a number of senior level roles with the company before becoming president of Overwaitea Food Group in 2012. More recently, Jones became president of the newly formed Pattison Food Group.

Jones oversees a team of more than 30,000 employees and under his leadership, Save-On-Foods has increased its store count by more than 50 store and launched a successful e-commerce service.

As a regional winner, Jones is now in the running for the national Entrepreneur of the Year award.
