Metro is bringing back its “Lockdown Bonus” employee gift card program as Omicron cases continue to surge.
The grocer, which has stores in Ontario and Quebec, is giving gift cards to full-time frontline store and distribution centre employees as a thank you for working through the latest wave of COVID-19. (Metro also issued gift cards during the second and third wave of the pandemic.)
The gift cards range in value from $75 to $300 depending on the number of hours the employee has worked, and can be redeemed at any of the grocer's banners.
The gift cards will be distributed in February.
“In the context of the current Omicron wave, our customers have relied on us to meet their needs and will continue to do so in the coming weeks and months,” said Metro in a statement provided to Canadian Grocer. “It is important for us to recognize and thank our frontline colleagues for their hard work and dedication in these unusual circumstances.”
