A new Walmart Supercentre is coming to southwest Edmonton

The company currently operates 59 stores across Alberta

A new Walmart Supercentre is slated to open in southwest Edmonton in 2027. 

Located in Desrochers Village, on Heritage Valley Trail SW, the approximately 140,000-sq.-ft. store will feature a full grocery department and deli as well as general merchandise and a Walmart pharmacy.

Customers at this location will also have access to the company’s full online order pickup and delivery services. 

Walmart Canada currently operates 59 stores in Alberta, including 12 in Edmonton. These locations employ over 14,000 associates in the province.

“We’ve been part of the Edmonton community since 1994 and can’t wait to bring a new Supercentre to the community, helping to make it even more convenient to shop with Walmart,” said Kelly Voisin, director, real estate, Walmart Canada, in a press release. “This new store is part of our $6.5 billion investment announced in 2025 that will bring even more Supercentres and our everyday low prices to customers across the country.”

As part of the 2025 investment, Walmart Canada opened new Supercentres in Port Credit and Oakville in Ontario and its Ambient Distribution Centre in Vaughan, Ont

Five new Supercentres are slated to open over the next two years including Fort McMurray, Alta., Sherbrooke, Que., Tsuut’ina Nation, Alta., Hamilton, Ont., London , Ont. and Edmonton. 

The company has also announced its Squamish, B.C., store will become a Supercentre.
