The Very Good Food Company names interim CEO

Matthew Hall steps into the role May 2 and also joins the board of directors

The Very Good Food Company has announced former Nestlé executive Matthew Hall is stepping in as interim CEO, effective May 2. He is also joining the company’s board of directors.

Additionally, Ana Silva has officially stepped down from her role as president and interim CFO. She has also resigned from the board.

This announcement comes only weeks after the Vancouver-based company terminated chief executive officer Mitchell Scott. At the same time, Scott’s co-founder James Davison resigned as chief research and development officer and as a member of the board of directors.

The company said the move was part of a larger strategy to grow the brand, and that it would be implementing cost-cutting measures including a “workforce reduction.”

Hall worked as a global senior executive with Nestlé for 31 years. He has also served on several company boards in the plant-based food space.

"I am delighted to be joining The Very Good Food Company at such an inflection point," said Hall in a press release. "With its excellent products and brand, Very is poised to be a leader in the growing plant-based market."
