Calgary Co-op reported a profit of $6.12 million in its 2025 fiscal year following a net loss of $10.04 million in the previous year.

The grocery co-operative’s sales came to $1.55 billion in 2025, an increase from $1.48 billion in 2024.

Food sales rose to $552,507 from $568,411. Pharmacy sales came to $338,719, up from $242,034 last year.

Petroleum sales (consisting of sales for petroleum products and convenience store items) fell to $392,056 from $429,435 in 2024.

Liquor sales were steady, dipping slightly from $221,571 to $220,770.

Sales for home health care and cannabis products came to $34,577, a small bump from $34,352 in 2024.

Calgary Co-op—which counts 400,000 members—held its annual general meeting on April 23, where a proposal was raised by member Trent Cherak for the retailer to provide a written statement regarding plans to hire a permanent CEO.

In October 2024, Ken Keeler departed Calgary Co-op as chief executive and Lisa Swartzman was tapped to lead the company in the interim.

She departed the co-operative in November 2025 as board chair Ken White was appointed to the role of executive chair.

At the AGM, the Calgary Co-op board agreed to provide a written statement “acknowledging this matter, identifying why a permanent CEO has not yet been found since Ken Keelor’s departure, and outlining a plan and reasonable timeline for hiring a new CEO.”

In January, Calgary Co-op announced plans to close its food stores in Hamptons and Sage Hill as well as the Hamptons Wine Spirits Beer and Cannabis locations.
